Professional training and coaching
As one of my mentors liked to say “all theories are false, but some are useful”. I believe that in athletic coaching the most powerful engine is your brain, and that there’s no substitute for motivation: people only achieve goals they set for themselves. Therefore, in my coaching practice I normally lean on these theories:
student centered learning (motivational aspect)
Socratic method, as reinvented by “inside out coaching” methodology by Alan Fine (you already know how to be great)
Neuroplasticity of success, based on insights from Daniel Amen and Norman Doidge (change your brain, change your life)
Interpersonal neurobiology for coaches, by Dan Siegel, Mindsight
Group process consultation (for ensemble and more complex group projects)
In addition to certificates in the above coaching theories, I hold a Masters degree in teaching and a Functional fitness and body shaping instructor certificate (from the Olympic committee of Russian federation).
