Professional training and coaching

As one of my mentors liked to say “all theories are false, but some are useful”. I believe that in athletic coaching the most powerful engine is your brain, and that there’s no substitute for motivation: people only achieve goals they set for themselves. Therefore, in my coaching practice I normally lean on these theories:

  • student centered learning (motivational aspect)

  • Socratic method, as reinvented by “inside out coaching” methodology by Alan Fine (you already know how to be great)

  • Neuroplasticity of success, based on insights from Daniel Amen and Norman Doidge (change your brain, change your life)

  • Interpersonal neurobiology for coaches, by Dan Siegel, Mindsight

  • Group process consultation (for ensemble and more complex group projects)

In addition to certificates in the above coaching theories, I hold a Masters degree in teaching and a Functional fitness and body shaping instructor certificate (from the Olympic committee of Russian federation).
